ebbwave is not medical care

ebbwave is a general wellness and self-help tool for people who want to change a habit. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care from a doctor, therapist, or other qualified provider. Using ebbwave does not create a doctor–patient or therapist–client relationship.

Always seek the advice of a qualified health provider with any questions about a medical or mental-health condition. Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something in ebbwave.

In a crisis, get real help

If you are in danger, thinking about harming yourself, or in a medical emergency, call your local emergency number now (112 in the EU, 911 in the US) or contact a crisis line.

ebbwave is not an emergency service and cannot respond to crises. The app surfaces crisis and care resources to help you reach people who can — please use them.

Withdrawal can be serious

Stopping some substances suddenly — alcohol and benzodiazepines in particular — can cause dangerous, occasionally life-threatening withdrawal. If you drink heavily or use these substances, talk to a doctor before quitting. ebbwave supports behavior change; it does not medically supervise detox.

The self-check is not a diagnosis

The onboarding self-check is a brief educational self-assessment based on public screening concepts (such as the Fagerström Test and the WHO’s AUDIT-C). It produces no diagnosis and no clinical score. If your answers suggest you’d be better served by professional support, ebbwave points you toward it — that’s a signpost, not a medical judgment.

Results vary

The recovery model, craving curves, and progress views are illustrative models, not predictions or guarantees. Everyone’s recovery is different. ebbwave makes no promise about any specific outcome.
